  • Somatic-based therapy has proven effective in treating trauma by connecting the mind and body to process unresolved symptoms. By using a bottom-up approach, this therapy helps students access deeply stored memories, distorted beliefs, and other trauma-related symptoms that impact a student’s healing journey.

  • We designed our program to provide intensive sessions that are more rigorous than a traditional hour-long therapy session. During each 90-minute session, our therapists review the student’s check-ins from the week, conduct the somatic-based intervention, and allow time for any processing the student needs. Typically, students will experience positive results after their first session.

  • When you decide to work with HopeNation, we will come onsite to talk about program and train your therapists on the indicators to look for when referring a student. In addition, we have a soft intake process that allows us to meet the student, talk about our process, and collect some high-level information that we use to pair the student with an appropriate therapist. During this time, we look for things like the student's ability to regulate outside of sessions, if the student is experiencing a crisis or over stimulation.

  • Each student participates in a virtual welcome session upon referral from your Counseling Center. During this session, we explain the program to the student, ask some general questions, and determine a “best match” for the student. If at anytime the students feels the assigned therapist is not a best match, we will reassign the student to another therapist.

  • We believe firmly in measurement-based care, and as such, we assess students during intake, discharge, and at their weekly sessions. We use the following assessments and surveys to track progress over time.

  • HopeNation strives to maintain a bench of diverse clinicians. However we are not perfect, so we assess and train each HopeNation clinician on a broad array of diverse values to ensure that your students can feel comfortable and open with their assigned therapist.

  • No. We understand that a student’s schedule is varied, and we work to accommodate that schedule. We offer evening and weekend appointments. In addition, we remain aware of your scheduled breaks to ensure students are not left without care during any scheduled breaks.

  • Our program incorporates additional tools and techniques that are designed to augment the somatic intervention. First, we give students access to a HIPAA-compliant check-in app that is used between sessions to stay connected to their therapist. Students receive a set of prompts and questions between sessions to help the therapist understand what the student is experiencing between sessions. The student responses are then incorporated into the weekly sessions to strengthen the therapeutic trust by providing the therapist more insight into the student’s experience.

In addition to our check-in app, we weave Cognitive Hope tools into the somatic work. Our therapists help students set goals, develop multiple pathways to achieve those goals, and ensure the student feels they possess the agency to achieve those goals. These Hope-centered skills benefit the counseling sessions while providing students a set of tools that will serve them well in college and beyond.

  • Our fees are a fixed amount per student, independent of the amount of sessions your student needs to lower their scores on the relevant assessments. All costs are incorporated into our per-student fee. You only pay for what you use. Because we offer this unique pricing model, we are not able to take insurance.

  • Yes, Each of our clinicians has been certified through Telehealth.org to meet the rigorous standards of delivering exceptional care in a virtual environment. We use a HIPAA-compliant EHR to deliver these sessions, so the student experience is completely secure.

  • HopeNation can provide standard language that explains our program and outcomes that you can use to apply for grant funding.

  • HopeNation collects data related to the students we serve and provides aggregate, de-identified data back to each campus for the purpose of tracking outcomes and our overall performance. We do not develop protocols for clinical research. Still, we would be happy to partner with you on a specific research initiative if

    1) that research initiative supports our overall mission and

    2) your campus is the principal investigator on the research. Please contact us to discuss further.
