EMDR

What is EMDR? Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a mental health treatment technique. This method involves bilateral stimulation, such as moving your eyes a specific way, while you process traumatic memories. EMDR’s goal is to help you heal from Trauma or other distressing life experiences.

How long does EMDR treatment take? For a single event or memory, EMDR ranges from 3-7, 90 minute sessions. Complex Trauma may take 8-12, 90 minute sessions.

The Benefits

We gather aggregate de-identified data from the participating students to enhance the connection and wellness of students on your campus.

HopeNation Campus uses measurement-based care to ensure we are driving meaningful outcomes.

How HopeNation Campus identifies students with clinical Trauma:

  • The United States Department of Veterans Affairs has listed the PCL-5 as a gold standard of care to assess and measure Trauma. The 20-item self-report measure that assesses the 20 DSM-5 symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The PCL-5 has a variety of purposes, including:

    • Monitoring symptom change during and after treatment

    • Screening individuals for PTSD

    • Making a provisional PTSD diagnosis

  • The Life Events Checklist for DSM-5 (LEC-5) is a self-report measure designed to screen for potentially traumatic events in a respondent's lifetime. The LEC-5 assesses exposure to 16 events known to potentially result in PTSD or distress and includes one additional item assessing any other extraordinarily stressful event not captured in the first 16 items.

In addition, HopeNation reassesses each student at 60-days post-discharge to ensure the validity of clinical outcomes.

  • "Overall, this pilot has been really important for me. I have been able to get in touch with my body. I wouldn't have been able to make it through the last semester without the EMDR therapy. This is giving me such a good steppingstone for whatever I do next regarding my mental health journey”

    Student

  • "When I get reminded/triggered by nagging, I'm able to cope better by not exhibiting negative emotions as I feel fine and powerful"

    Student

  • "I'm going to use my container and peaceful inner place more frequently and get used to doing so and believe that things can get better"

    Student

  • "I am learning from the past. I have a feeling I could get into similar situations in the future. So, doing the future template and knowing I have self-worth regardless are important. It is the perpetrator who is undervalued in my eyes now."

    Student

  • “I have always heard about EMDR but I never had the opportunity to experience it because of the cost and finding a therapist to fit with my schedule. Thank you so much for this opportunity”

    Student

  • “I cannot believe how quickly I started feeling better. Things that I have been thinking about for years started to seem so much better”

    Student

  • "Hard as the processing was, it was nice to process and come to some realizations I never would have had if I hadn't challenged myself to face this"
